Before he was a member of the Band of Robbers, Joe spent his time helping out at the family orchard. One of the ways he helped out was by serving as the Maiden of Harper's Orchard- a mascot of sorts for the company. He found nothing wrong with it; he just had to do a few photo shoots over the years dressed as a girl. However, on his final day as the Maiden, there was a class field trip, which included his friends, who had no idea their friend played a girl. Needless to say, there were many jokes told at Joe's expense, causing him to run away crying. To this day, whenever it gets brought up, Joe becomes morose and distant- wishing he could separate himself from the character.
